Christine Mason joins us to continue our look at principal mentoring. Mentoring provides a crucial support system for principals by offering advice and counsel from retired and active seasoned professional and can play an important role in reducing the high rate of principal turnover around the country. Dr. Mason is Associate Executive Director for Research and Development at the National Association of Elementary School Principals and the Director of the NAESP Center for Educational Improvement and, in this segment, she provides an introduction to the process of principal mentoring, explains what a high quality mentoring program looks like, and discusses how mentoring supports new or novice leaders and even experienced principals.

Christine Mason is a nationally recognized expert in the area of educational reform, teacher mentoring, and special education. Dr. Mason has made more than 500 national, international, regional, and local presentations on topics ranging from inclusion and IDEA to student self-determination and integrating the arts.
